BOV employees follow ‘LeaderMaker’ training programme
Bank of Valletta employees recently engaged in a somewhat different, experiential learning experience by following a leadership development programme designed to focus on core elements of leadership skills and styles.

The programme, customised to the specific challenges facing today’s leaders, was delivered by Jackey Backman of One Spirit in conjunction with the bank’s Training and Consultancy Unit. Ms Backman is renowned for her internationally acclaimed Success Intensive Training and the Nine Principles of Personal Power.

Over 120 BOV employees received this training over a series of five courses. Participants included the bank’s CEO, Tonio Depasquale, chief officers, executives and various unit managers.

Maximising results through self-leadership, team members and the organisation was the prevalent theme throughout these highly participative and engaging workshops. The programme content was designed following an intensive needs analysis exercise, which included one-to-one sessions with the bank’s top management team, Human Resources and Training officials.

This innovative approach to learning was very well received by participants of the programme, which provoked much debate, thought and action. Following delivery of this course the bank’s training function has been evaluating the learning transfer and behavioural change process further in order to create active follow-ups on the workplace.

This training programme forms part of the bank’s ongoing investment in its Human Resources, with a view of engaging employees and developing this skilful resource to the benefit of more efficient operations and an enhanced customer service.
