Alan Camilleri, executive chairman of Malta Enterprise and Malta Industrial Parks led a business delegation of around 25 company representatives in Vienna.
The delegation promoted a range of goods and services including financial and insurance services, foodstuffs, electronics, renewable energy, ICT, travel and logistical services.
During the forum, Mr Camilleri provided information about Malta’s economic vision to be a centre of excellence in the Mediterranean region for ICT, financial services, health, education, high value added industry and the ecological dimension of Gozo. He also emphasised the regional dimension of Malta and the opportunities for further cooperation with Austrian companies for investments, trade, joint ventures and strategic alliances.
Helga Ellul, president of the Malta Chamber of
Commerce, Enterprise and Industry delivered a presentation on the role of the Malta Chamber and her positive experience in Malta as CEO of Playmobil Malta.
Dr Bernice Buttigieg expanded on the incentives Malta offers for financial services and Karin Zipperer, chairman of Malta International Airport explained about their successful participation in the growth of MIA including the recently announced expansion of a EUR16m business centre.
On the part of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, Dr Michael Berger, Commercial Attaché for Italy and Malta and Brigitte Jank, president of the Vienna Chamber highlighted the importance of further expansion and business cooperation especially in sectors such as renewable energy and technology transfer.
Malta Enterprise, through its institutional networks and the support of the Malta Embassy and the Honorary Consuls in Austria, organised over 120 one-to-one meetings between the Maltese companies and Austrian business partners.
